SICILY TOUR - DAY 3 - 5 APRIL 2024

A later start meant leaving Letojanni at about 10am to head down to the south, to Syracuse and the island of Ortigia. The weather was fabulous with wall to wall sunshine and a cloudless blue sky.

We headed to the old town on Ortigia for lunch and maybe a soupcon of limoncello! The food in this part of the world is divine!

We spent time browsing the local artisan shops and meandering through the picturesque shady, narrow streets. Some of the party headed to the stunning harbour.

Later in the afternoon, we visited the Neapolis Archaeological Park, where the latest Indiana Jones was filmed. It boasts a Greek AND a Roman amphitheatre, one better than Chester!

Our second concert was in the Basilica Santuario Madonna delle Lacrime, an impressive modern building, which reminded us all of the R.C. Cathedral in Liverpool. The performance, itself was in a separate building within the grounds where we performed to a sizeable audience including local press! They greatly appreciated the concert and wanted to chat to anybody in a blue dress, to offer congratulations, and asked when we were coming back to perform again! By the time we got back to the hotel, the church team had already posted photographs on their Facebook page!

Buoyed by the warm and friendly reaction from our Sicilian audience, we headed back to the hotel for several night caps and takeaway pizza!
